Jack W. Hope graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 1978.
After completing Articles of Clerkship and the Ontario Bar Admission Program he was admitted
to the Ontario Bar in April 1980. He has practiced since then in Toronto, initially focusing on civil
litigation, then predominantly family law, appearing in all levels of Ontario courts. In addition to
court-related work, Mr. Hope’s family law services include co-habitation agreements, marriage
contracts and separation agreements.
Over the last several years, he has added a commercial component to his practice, involving
asset and share sales, shareholder and partnership agreements and commercial leases. This
experience has proven useful in family cases involving corporate and other business interests
which require unravelling and evaluation. Conversely, Mr. Hope’s litigation background has
proven to be a valuable asset when reviewing and negotiating contracts – it helps to know
where the traps lie.

children, extended families and, of course, money. Mr. Hope will use the court system as
necessary but he will also focus his energies on a fair and workable negotiated solution
whenever possible. Almost forty years of experience allows Mr. Hope to help you understand
what is worth fighting about and, more importantly, what isn’t, because the money and energy
spent on protracted yet ultimately unnecessary family law litigation is a tragic waste of a
Mr. Hope was involved in legal education for many years. He has taught courses for numerous
Humber College law programs, the Certified General Accountants certification program and the

continuing legal education seminars and presentations.
Mr. Hope has been a partner with Steinberg Title Hope and Israel LLP since 2002.
